'twas fun to do! Gomamon's cool and often overlooked. Him and his magic fish powers.

Nice pose! :3 Lately he isn't as much overlooked as earlier. He even was one of actually talking Digimon from old team in the Xros Wars episode :D! :+fav:

Thank you! I haven't seen many episodes after Adventure season 2, sort of lost interest after that. I really have no idea what Xros wars is about XD

Thanks! I tried to make it look like he was doing -something-, it's hard to put movement into a creature with such stubby back legs!

Paint Tool SAI is a nice piece of software which has some lovely watercoloury brush effects. It's much nicer for digital painting than photoshop, the colours all blend nicely!

Oooh right! Well, usually I just play around with what looks right. Bung a "multiply" layer on top for shadows and colour the shaded parts a darker colour (usually I like grey-blueish)then a warmer colour on a different layer (set to screen) for highlights. Then sometimes I do a third layer of "screen" and use a bright colour for back-lit areas (reflected light) which in this case is pink.
Here's some tutorials I found useful:

Basic colour guide which is kind of useful: [link]
Sadly I can't find the tutorial I'm really looking for :(

so that's what that is.. reflection-on-shaded-areas...
it doesn't help that I mentally filter that stuff out when I look at real life objects >_<

Yeah, your brain tricks you a lot when you look at things. It's really hard to draw things as they actually are. Maybe look at some photos, it's easier to pick out things like that in a flat image!
